Jennifer Braithwaite
Jen Braithwaite holds a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art and Visual Culture and is passionate about investing in people as well as nurturing the arts community. Jen’s diverse career spans roles that showcase her flexibility, problem-solving skills and diplomatic approach, all skills she brings to role of President of Arts Connect Inc. Jen also utilises her combination of skills, experience and personal attributes to the enhancement of events and the support of the Sunshine Coast thriving arts community. This year Jen will form one half of the exhibition selection panel.
Wayne Malkin
Wayne Malkin is a versatile artist known for his seascapes, landscapes and portraits. Wayne’s work captures singular moments with a constant focus on the interplay of light. Wayne has earned industry recognition, being twice a finalist in the Doug Moran Portrait Prize and Tattersall’s Landscape Prize. His art has been displayed in the Archibald Salon De Refuses exhibition in 2015. Wayne, along with his wife Tracey, owns The Montville Art Gallery. Wayne has curated Sculpture on the Edge for the past 2 years and his eye for detail, form and structure will be well respected in the role of judge this year.
Joanne Howard
Joanne Howard has dedicated her career to promoting and supporting artists across many mediums. Joanne’s 9 years of experience as owner and operator of Maleny Art Direct (MAD) includes curating and presenting exhibitions, organising monthly art exhibitions, installations and fundraising events for local charities. With over 13 years of experience in the industry, Joanne brings a deep understanding of artistic content which will be an asset in her role in the selection panel and as curator of the exhibition.
Charles Robb
Dr Charles Robb is a Senior Lecturer in Contemporary Art at QUT in Meanjin/Brisbane. A practicing artist for over two decades, his work has been featured in numerous group and solo exhibitions at venues including MONA (Hobart), the Museum of Contemporary Art (Sydney), and the Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia (Melbourne). Charles has participated in notable sculpture surveys and been shortlisted for national awards. Recently, he completed two sculpture commissions for the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. Charles’ work explores the relationship between portraiture and incidental form through sculptural, digital, and photographic media. He also maintains a broad interest in 3D materials, processes, and forms.
Pam Walpole
Pam Walpole’s background spans a career in advertising, followed by a degree in Fine Art at the Brisbane Institute of Art, majoring in sculpture. All mediums have enthralled Pam from stone, concrete, clay, assemblage and bronze, winning awards in several mediums. Pam has had 16 solo exhibitions to date in both painting and sculpture and many selected exhibitions. Since moving to the Sunshine Coast Pam has embarked on installation art under the name ‘Art forARTsake’ using recycled materials to convey a message about our environment, winning awards and being selected in sculpture festivals throughout the state. Pam’s work is in public, private and corporate collections throughout Australia and internationally. Pam also held the position of President of the Society of Sculptors Queensland 1994 – 1995.
