This sculpture is created using 90% recycled and repurposed materials, supporting my career focus on continuing the practice of sustainable art. It has been a focus of mine for many years that in the creation of artwork it should still be kind to the environment and wherever possible to use materials that already exist.
The name of the artwork is Mooroo-kutchi, it is the local Gubbi Gubbi name for the black swan. The sculpture pays homage to the importance of the Mooroo-kutchi to our traditional custodians of the land and in their dreaming stories. These birds also continue to inhabit areas of the Sunshine coast and the need to protect their environment and ecosystem is as important as ever.
