Recycled Copper Hot Water Units

Insect Trail

Having had a lifelong passion in the plant and animal world, and an interest in copper through my plumbing career. I decided to create larger than life insects using up-cycled copper and items I have collected over the years including old hot water unit parts, copper pipe, sheeting and wire.

With the use of oxy/acetylene and various acids, I have experimented with colour change in the copper to enhance the design and mimic nature’s beauty.

When designing a new art piece, I aim to utilise what I already have, avoiding the need to purchase new items for construction.

These pieces are a total length is 4.0 metres made of recycled copper, sheet and wire, silver solder brazed.
